During the ceremony of the SAP Quality Awards 2018, our customer Van Marcke won the silver medal in the ‘Fast Delivery’ category. At Elision, we are very proud to see that our work has been recognized for its high quality.
‘It has been an interesting journey so far, and we are looking forward to the future!’ says Stijn Hoegaerts, IT Director at Van Marcke.
Last year, Van Marcke decided to assign significant time to develop new digital services. On itself this is already a challenge, but soon they realized that this requires well maintained and easy consumable product data enriched with business knowledge. Since most of the data existed already, but was scattered over different systems, the need for a state-of-the-art PCM solution became eminent.
In the sanitary business, Van Marcke has always been a very active defender for the European data classification standard ETIM. Obviously, their new solution had to be able to support this standard. Moreover, since Van Marcke is active in both the professional market as well as the Do-It-Yourself market, where another data classification standard (GS1) is being used, the future solution had to be able to support both at the same time.
From the beginning, it was the ambition to go for a fast implementation project. Rather than going for the traditional approach (blueprinting, realization, testing…), Van Marcke has chosen Elision because of our proven continuous delivery process methodology built upon scrum and agile development.
The short implementation period was achieved by sticking to the standards.
Practically, the starting point for the discussion about all features was to show how these features are offered as standard features by the PCM software and how they should be used. Only when this was judged insufficient by the key users, the remaining gaps were defined and discussed, including impact on project resources and timing.
Once again, congratulations to Van Marcke for winning this prestigious SAP Quality Award. We are looking forward to continuing our journey!
